In 1955, our founder Earl August Sween, started Stewart Sandwiches in Bloomington, Minnesota. As the company entered the retail frozen sandwich business, Earl’s son, Tom E. Sween, joined the company and became president in 1974. In 1980, the relationship with Stewart Sandwiches ended, and we became E.A. Sween Company, launching the Deli Express® brand into the market. Tom E. Sween took over ownership from Earl in 1986; and in 1997, Tom E.’s son, Tom H. Sween, joined the team working in various positions across the company. In 2010, Tom H. Sween became president/COO, then became the chief executive officer (CEO) and owner of E.A. Sween Company in 2017.
E.A. Sween Company is a rarity: a third-generation, family-owned business that is still family-owned and successful. Today, we proudly make more than 80 million sandwiches each year and operate seven combined distribution center locations across the country. We are truly a team that Wins as ONE!
