Operational Initiatives
E.A. Sween strives to support environmental sustainability in its business operations:
Water
We installed automated handwashing stations in our production facility to reduce water usage by 240,000 gallons/year.
Recycling
Annually, we recycle more than 1.1 million pounds of corrugate and 6,000 pounds of paper in our production facility.
Waste
Our plant operations are working towards a 50% reduction in the amount of organic waste in our garbage. A new organic waste compactor diverts tonnage from landfills by converting.
Energy
We are transforming our office and production facility over to LED lighting and energy-efficient cooling/heating.
Efficiency
Ongoing replacement of low-efficiency equipment with new, high-efficiency equipment.
Corporate social responsibility
E.A. Sween upholds a strong corporate philanthropic commitment. Approximately 20% of net income is contributed each year. Highlights include:

We are a lead sponsor of the Animal Humane Society.
We are a lead sponsor of the Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.
We contributed more than $350,000 per year in food to Second Harvest Heartland (food shelf).
